The University Entrance Standard for 2015

You will be qualified for entrance to New Zealand universities in 2015 if you have obtained:

NCEA Level 3
Three subjects - at Level 3, made up of:
- 14 credits each, in three approved subjects
Literacy - 10 credits at Level 2 or above*, made up of:
- 5 credits in reading
- 5 credits in writing
Numeracy - 10 credits at Level 1 or above*, made up of:
- Achievement standards – specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects, or
- Unit standards - package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627- allthree required).

*For the lists of Level 1, Level 2 and 3 standards that contribute to University Entrance requirements, please visit the NZQA website.

To be admitted to the University of Auckland you must gain the University Entrance Standard and be selected into a programme.

2015 admission requirements

You must meet the admission requirements for your programme(s) of study.

In addition to achieving university entrance, some of our undergraduate programmes require you to have taken specific subjects and gained minimum credits in certain subjects. Some programmes have other requirements such as a portfolio, audition and/or interview.

The table below shows the rank scores required for guaranteed entry in 2015, specific subject and credit requirements and any other requirements you need for admission and selection into the University of Auckland’s undergraduate programmes.

For programmes that refer to Table A and/or Table B, use the table below.

2015 rank scores, subject, credit and other requirements

These are the undergraduate programme admission requirements for school leavers who have achieved University Entrance.

This table indicates the rank score, subject/credit requirements and other requirements that will guarantee you admission to your programme in 2015.

If you achieve the University Entrance Standard but do not achieve a rank score that will guarantee selection into the programme you wish to study, your application will be given individual consideration if places are available. Applicants for the Architectural Studies, Fine Arts, and Urban Planning programmes may require an interview. Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS)		230 A minimum of 16 credits in one subject from Table A and a minimum of 16 credits in one subject from Table B. Subject to the qualitative evaluation of a portfolio of creative work and written statement.
Bachelor of Arts (BA)¹		150
Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)²		180 with a minimum of 16 credits in each of three subjects from Table A and/or Table B.
Bachelor of Dance Studies (BDanceSt)		150 Subject to the qualitative evaluation of a CV, written statement and an audition/interview.
Bachelor of Education (Teaching) (BEd(Tchg))³		150 Subject to a satisfactory interview, police check, and referees’ reports.
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE(Hons))		250 with 17 external Level 3 credits in Calculus and 16 external Level 3 credits in Physics
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)		150 Subject to the qualitative evaluation of a portfolio of 12 colour reproductions and written statement.
Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc)		250 with a minimum of 18 credits in one subject from Table A and a minimum of 18 credits in one subject from Table B.
Bachelor of Human Services (BHumServ)³		150 Subject to a satisfactory interview, police check, and referees’ reports.
Bachelor of Laws (LLB (Part I))		Students must be offered a place in another bachelors degree. Entry will be based on the guaranteed scores for the other bachelors degree.
Bachelor of Music (BMus) Classical Performance, Jazz Performance or Popular Music majors Composition and Musicology majors		150 Subject to the qualitative evaluation of a CV, music certificates, referees’ report and in the case of Classical Performance, Jazz Performance and Popular Music majors, an audition. Composition major will be required to submit for qualitative evaluation a portfolio of 2 or 3 compositions.
Bachelor of Nursing (BNurs)		220 with a minimum of 16 credits in one subject from Table A and a minimum of 16 credits from one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE)³		150 Subject to a satisfactory interview, police check, and referees’ reports.
Bachelor of Property (BProp)²		180 with a minimum of 16 credits in each of three subjects from Table A and/or Table B.
Bachelor of Science (BSc)⁴	Biomedical Science	280
	Food Science and Nutrition	200
	Sport and Exercise Science	180 Including 14 credits in Biological Sciences and/or Human Biology, at NCEA Level 3 or equivalent.
