Thank you for applying to the Business Migration branch for a work visa under the Long Term Business Category. Our decision on your application Congratulations, I am pleased to tell you that we have approved your application in principle. Your work visa Please send your passport to this office before 23 July 2012, so that we can grant your visa. The visa will allow you to travel to New Zealand and operate your business. We will return your passport within 10 working days. Please let us know if you cannot send us your passport before 23 July 2012. How long will your work visa be valid for? Your visa will be valid for nine months from the date it is granted. At the end of this time, you may be able to apply for a further 27 months (see below for more information). Your work visa and travel conditions Your work visa will be granted with travel conditions. Your travel conditions will allow you to travel outside New Zealand and be granted re-entry into New Zealand as many times as you like. Your travel conditions will be valid for nine months from the date your visa is granted. What must you do during the first nine months of your work visa? During the first nine months of your work visa, you will need to: set up your business according to the business plan in your application transfer your investment capital to New Zealand direct from your bank account(s) through the banking system. What happens after the first nine months? Once you have successfully set up your business, you can apply for a visa for a further 27 months, that is, the balance of the three years available under the Long Term Business Category. The immigration instructions provided at the end of this letter provide more details about how to apply for the balance of the three years. You will not need to submit a new application form, but you will need to apply while your work visa is still valid. You will need to send us evidence that you have transferred your funds to New Zealand in line with the requirements set out in immigration instructions (copy attached), and that you have taken reasonable steps to establish and operate your business in New Zealand.
