Thank you for applying to the Business Migration Branch on for a work visa* under the Long Term Business Category. Our decision on your application Congratulations, I am pleased to tell you that we have approved your application and endorsed your passport with a work visa valid until 15/02/2013. What does your work visa allow you to do? You may now set up and operate your business in New Zealand as outlined in your business plan. You may work only in your own tool manufacturing business as a self-employed person in Auckland as specified on the visa label. You may not work for any other employer. If you undertake business activities that breach the conditions of your visa, you may become liable for deportation. Your work visa and travel conditions We have granted you a work visa with travel conditions. The travel conditions appear on the top right-hand side of the visa label in your passport. There are two types of travel conditions on your work visa. The ‘first entry before’ travel conditions means that you must arrange to travel to New Zealand before 15/02/2013 in order to keep your work visa valid. If you do not enter New Zealand before this date, your work visa will no longer be valid. Once you arrive in New Zealand, the ‘expiry date travel’ condition will allow you to travel outside New Zealand and be granted re-entry into New Zealand when you return. While you are in New Zealand on a work visa issued under the Long Term Business Category, you must meet the conditions listed below. You must use the time you spend in New Zealand to set up or operate your business You must make sure you have sufficient funds for living and accommodation costs for yourself and any dependants included in your application You may not apply for benefits through the Social Security Act or family support through Inland Revenue (IRD) While you are in New Zealand, you must hold a valid visa at all times. What happens within the first nine months? Within the first nine months, you can apply for a further visa for the rest of the three-year period available under the Long Term Business Category. You will need to send us satisfactory evidence that you have: Taken reasonable steps to establish or invest in the business described in your business plan, and transferred your investment capital to New Zealand direct from your bank account(s) through the banking system. Please see the enclosed requirements of business immigration instructions. What visas do your spouse and children have? We have endorsed your spouse’s passport with a work visa and your children’s passports with student or visitor visas. These visas are valid for the same length of time as your work visa. Applying for residence If you apply for residence in the future, we will assess your application under the terms and conditions applying at that time. Your documents We are returning your original documents with this letter. The documents are: 4 x passports Various other original documents *Immigration Act 2009 Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has changed the terminology it uses. From 29 November 2010, we will use the term visa to mean the authority to travel to New Zealand and stay in New Zealand. We have made this change because of the new Immigration Act 2009. If you applied for a permit before 29 November 2010, INZ will now grant you a visa. This change will not affect your immigration status.
